A Brief Note on Self-Control
I am down at the Halsted store today, where I am a
lways delighted by a new selection of wine and spirits at my fingertips. If it wasn’t such a pain to get the stuff back up to my Roscoe Village apartment, I would probably leave with a half-case of bottles every time I worked here.
The Halsted store also has a little something open that we have yet to sample at Roscoe: the Luxardo Marsache al frutto. Cherries candied with marasca syrup, and left in this thick, sweet/tart syrup. The cherries are reminiscent of maraschino cherries, but not artificial tasting or cloyingly sweet. Utterly delicious and addictive.
Come try one before they are all gone…
